What is the Rahway River Parkway?

GREAT QUESTION!

Simply put, it is a system of parks connected by woodlands that run along Rahway River. While parks are generally thought of separate entities, within Rahway River Parkway they are united and part of a much bigger picture.

Centrally located within Union County's Park System, the Rahway River Parkway consists of approximately 950 acres of wooded land and parks across multiple Union County towns and cities. What's make it unique, is how it is one of Americas first and oldest surviving Greenways designed by the famous Olmsted Firm (the same architectural firm that designed Central Park).

Intended as a restorative oasis for urban dwellers, the Parkway gave Union County residents a place to walk long stretches of wooded trails, enjoy the peace and tranquility of nature, and not have to drive hours to do so.
